Atlantic Testing Laboratories: Website Writing & Web Strategy
Atlantic Testing Laboratories was bear of a site to organize, write, and—not atypical, when gleaning information from really smart engineers—provide with a tone that balanced the complicated technicality of the service and the value of this company’s work. Their expert staff and uncompromising standards make ATL a major player in its field, and a crucial service provider. They make much of the safety of our daily lives we take for granted a possibility: the structural integrity of buildings, highways, bridges, dams, pollution and waste cleanup, and more.

I wrote the copy, was met with disappointment, rewrote it, then after a string of approvals, found it was back to my first version again. You win some, you lose some! But the big ‘win’ with this site was organizing their myriad services; this is where the genius web guys at Shannon-Rose Design really shine. Blaine knocked it out of the park with a set of icons that separate the ‘venues’ of their services, making it easy for clients to find their service without a mess of drop down menus or complicated subnavs.
Taking that a step further, each service page has a brief, click-thru Case Study of a job in which that service was provided embedded within the page. I’m a case study junkie: if you’ve got them, use them. Your work will always speak for itself (and to your experience, expertise, and success).

I’ve said enough already; browse the site a bit and you’ll get the gist. I’m so proud this baby is live and ATL has a site that’s as good as the work they provide.
